The Worst family was established in Lancaster County, PA about 1760 bythree brothers of the name who came here from Switzerland. One settledin Cornwall, Lebanon Co., one in Germantown and the 3rd in Terre Hill,Lancaster, Co. Just what the rela tionship of these three is to HenryWorst is unknown. It is possible Henry was one of the three. Otherpossibilities are: Peter and George.
Henry Worst's will was made in 1812. The following are key portionstaken directly from the will.
Henry Worst of Frankford Township, Cumberland County ....... I orderthat my Beloved wife Elizabeth shall have her widow seat on my realestate in the dwelling house where I now live. ......yearly and everyyear eight bushels of good wheat, five bushels of Rye and four bushels ofBuckwheat, the grain to be delivered to the mill and the flour returnedto her house again, also necessary firewood halled to her house and smallcut for burning, also one cow to be kept for her by the posses sor of mysaid estate in pasture where he keeps his own during said time and asmuch hay to be halled to her stable yearly as will keep said cow welland two sheep to be kept on the place for her she shall also have yearlyten pounds of Thatched fla x and twenty pounds of tow she shall also haveyearly two pair of new shoes, she shall also have yearly a fat hog thatdon't weigh less than one hundred and fifty pounds with the lard, alsoyearly forty lbs. of good beef also yearly half bushel of salt, twelvepounds of coffee and eight lbs of sugar. She shall also have as manyapples for eating, drying and for winter apples for her use as she thinksproper to take of the apple. etc, etc. ..... and if my wife gets sicklyand unable she shal l be nursed attended and taken care in a Christianlike manner, and such medicines applied to her as may be deemednecessary. ....... which I and my deceased son Jacob have purchased inhis lifetime from John Whitton, which I call my real estate, .. .........further is my will and I order that my daughter Margaret or their legalrepresentatives shall have the sum of twenty pounds of lawful money outof my estate, within one year after my wife's death. ...... that mydaughter Elizabeth or her legal representative shall have the sum oftwenty pounds ....... further that my son Henry or his legalrepresentatives shall have five pounds of lawful money ......... aftermy wife's decease my said son Jacob's children shall have in equalshares . .... namely, Jacob, David, Daniel, Peter, Samuel, Elizabeth,Anna May & Catharine ........
