Jacob and Christiana were buried in the old cemetery at the UnionChurch in town, but when the city fathers desired to enlarge the churchthey found these graves too close to the building, and they were moved tothe City Cemetery, now on their home farm. It is said that the coffins, made of Walnut, were found in splendid state of preservation. Bothcoffins were placed in the same grave, and as the lettering on Jacob'sstone was only painted on, it had been obliterated by the weather, a nd itwas placed over his casket, and Christina's stone was placed over thegrave; Laying on top of the graves. From dates in the records it wouldindicate that Christina was married at age 14, but did not become amother until she was 23 years old. [leyda.FTW]
