Notes for David Arnold

[master2.FTW]

[tree 102.FTW]

[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 4, Ed. 1, Tree #0102, Date of Import: Mar 11, 2000]

Other dates: b-1757 d-1841 This per letter from the Maryland Genea-
+ogical Society dtd Dec 9,1977 based on research by Miss Margaret Neal.
Also, b-1759 d-1844 from other source(s).

The DAR papers show b-1756 d- 1841, "corrected" from 1844. No conflicts
on months and days.

Other dates (received in papers from Rita Souther) are:
b - July 12, 1763 d - Feb 24, 1844 81 yr, 4 mo, 18 days

New input from papers received from Rita Souther Sept 27, 1993:
David Arnold had MORE children than just Peter, Lydia and John (per
1910 Arnold write-up) plus Mary (per DAR papers of Rita Souther).
So now, from Souther's new contribution, we find the total children
were (p 13): David, John, Lydia, Mary (Polly), Hulda (Hutta), Eliza-
beth and Peter for a total of seven. This John must have been John H.,
father of Martin Van Buren Arnold, my grandfather.

The order of the seven children must be in error if the birth
dates of Mary (1787) and John (1795) from other sources are right.

Easterday Connection

Souther's source also seems to clear up the Arnold - Easterday
connection put forward by genealogist Ralph Martz. Recall he thought
that David Arnold married twice because he ran across info somewhere
that a David Arnold married a Julianna Easterday, making us
wonder which wife our line descended from. Souther's new input shows
that a David Arnold married a Julian (not Julianna) Easterday, but
this David was the SON of David, husband of Elizabeth Slifer. So
that explains it! (up until Souther's input came along, limited
records only listed Peter, Lydia and John H. as the children of our
David(1756).

- Joseph Bligh 9/29/93

Conflicting input from Lester Binnie:
David's son, David, did not marry a Julian/Julianna Easterday -
he married a Catherine somebody. Come to realize that I don't even
have a David(jr) listed under David(1759)!

Update:
I do now.
