Notes for Sarah Margaret Arnold
[master2.FTW]
[tree 102.FTW]
[Brøderbund WFT Vol. 4, Ed. 1, Tree #0102, Date of Import: Mar 11, 2000]
She preferred to be known as Margaret, or just Mag.
Maggie was a Registered Nurse (RN) graduated at Atlantic City Hospital
during WW I so that she could help the wounded troops. She was licensed
to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey. She did that in
N.J. (maybe N.Y.), catering mostly to private practice. One in partic-
ular remembered by her son Joseph was Mrs. Finkenaur, a wealthy retiree
from New York who wouldn't start the day without her polished Herald
Tribune newspaper. She was a gourmet cook, and one could easily catch
the wafts of baking pies and all sorts of cakes when walking past her
well furnished apartment just north of the Absecon Lighthouse. Joe got
to eat lots of those treats. That was just before Hitler unleashed his
legions across Europe.
Her Social Security Number was 137-14-2366.
Notes given to her son, Joseph:
Stayed in MD until 1914. Went to Atlantic City where she got a job as a
stewardess in the Marlborough-Blenheim Hotel. 1917 enrolled in nursing,
1920 graduated. 1924 nursing took her on trip to Omaha, NE. 1925 went
to Florida to rent a rooming house. 1926 Joe born. 1927 came up to
Baltimore from St. Petersburg on a ship (March). Went to Pittsburgh
from there. 1927 Eddie born. 1928 went back to Atlantic City.
The only part I could never figure out is how were pictures taken of
Eddie in Florida? - JAB
