Notes for William Arnold
[master2.FTW]
Here is an undocumented account of family history that has been passed down by the Arnold family over many years as told by three members of the family of Lewis Wayne Arnold.
The following excerpt is taken from the autobiography of General Henry (Hap) Harley Arnold published by Global Mission.
Hap was born June 25, 1886 at Gladwyne, PA. He does not state his mother's maiden name. He does state that she was a member of the PA DAR and that four ancestors on her side and three of his fathers side took part in the Revolutionary War. He states that his paternal Grandfather fought at Gettysburg. His father was Herbert Alonzo Arnold, a physician at Gladwyne, PA and that he was one of a family of five children, namely, Elizabeth, Thomas, Henry, Clifford and Price. He entered West Point in 1903 and after graduation was assigned to the newly formed Air Corps, he took flight instruction from the Wright Brothers at Dayton, OH and held pilots license #29.
Now for the undocumented part: William and Nancy
