Charles Austen
Double marriage with Richard Pearce in 1813
They spent four weeks on the ocean in
1820 Landed in New York on a sailing ship took the stage to Philadelphia then to Pittsburgh.
Bought 100 acres with Richard Pearce, each paid for 50 acres at 20 cents per acre
Richard Pearce on west side of Pine Creek, ran a mill.
Charles Austen on east side of Pine Creek Lumbered and built log house
They Returned to England in Fall of 1820 to sell property.
Returned to New York end of April 1821 then by Stage to Philadelphia. Richard Pearce bought a Horse and wagon and went ahead to Pittsburgh. Charles, his wife and children, Susan Charles and Thomas, two weeks later bought their wagon and arrived in Pittsburgh in June 1821.

Served in British Army and Navy as officer, after he left the Army he purchased the right to live in the castle on Castle Gate Manor for 100 years.
Charles Austen had peppercorn rights to Castle Gate Manor , Kent England.
It was a large sheep range, owning thousands of sheep., after some years he became dissatisfied and sold out. sold the rights to the castle and the flocks of sheep and moved to Saint Albens. He stayed there for 4 years, then went to Lithchboro, and in two years started for America.
