Services for Cleon V. KINDIG, 72, San Jose, Calif., who died at 9:45 p.m. EST Monday at his home, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Teal YOUNCE officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and until the hour of the service Friday. The family requests that memorials other than flowers be made to the Fulton County Historical Society.
He was born April 29, 1910 in Tiosa, to Charles and Hattie BRYANT KINDIG. He had lived in San Jose 44 years, moving there from Rochester. He was married July 4, 1936 in Rocheter to Eunice EASTLUND; she survives. He attended Purdue University. In Rochester, he was associated with Kindig Builders, known for their construction of round barns. During the 1930s, he owned Kindig Radio and Electric Shop in the 800 block of Main Street in Rochester. In California, he worked in the electro-mechanical engineering field, making contributions to space technology. His paintings and pottery will be exhibited at this years Round Barn Festival.
Also surviving are two sons, Morris [KINDIG], Mountain View, Calif., and Norman [KINDIG], Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Doris) JONES, Mishawaka, and Mrs. Clarence (Lavonne) MIKESELL, Rochester. Four brothers, Cleve, Oral, Roy, and Arnie [KINDIG], preceded in death.
